REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has praised the impact of the Government’s holiday activities and food programme following a visit to a Redditch out-of-school club.

Rachel visited Funzone at Walkwood Middle School on August 31, which has been able to offer places to children who receive Free School Meals, thanks to the government's £220 million Holiday Activities programme.

The Covid Local Support Grant has also helped councils to support families with the cost of food and utility bills as a result of the pandemic, with Worcestershire County Council receiving £2.1million.

Rachel said: “After a tough 18 months for everyone, but particularly for children, it was fantastic to see them enjoying themselves and taking part in a number of activities from painting to baking and playing in the woods.

“I’m pleased the Government expanded its Holiday Activities and Food Programme as it has provided children in Redditch with healthy meals and exciting activities.”
