STUDLEY Football and Social Club is set for an upgrade after plans have been passed for a new stand and changing rooms.
The club named The Beehive, on Abbeyfields Drive is home to Studley FC and will see a new stand built with capacity for 100 spectators.
The proposals state: “The proposed development seeks to improve an existing community and sport facility. Specifically, this is seeking the removal of a stand that is considered to be past its optimum best condition and the erection of a newer stand in its place, albeit sited in a different location within the complex.”
The new stand will be built 150 meters southwest of the current stand.
As part of the conditions attached to the granted planning permission the existing stand must be demolished before the first use of the new stand to protect the green belt land.
Studley FC are also set for new changing rooms as part of its spruce up.
The proposals state: “The proposed changing rooms and servery are to be located to the rear of the main building and comprise a total of 4no. separate buildings in a clustered arrangement.”
However, Mappleborough Green Parish Council objected to both proposals. A spokesperson said: “The Parish Council object to this application due to the inadequate car parking facility at the centre and the major highways issues the parking congestion currently has on the surrounding area. Before any developments be considered the lack of car parking must be addressed as a priority”.
