REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean is calling on the government to ensure her rural constituents benefit from a £5 billion roll-out of super fast broadband.
It comes as hundreds of residents responded to the MP's broadband and mobile connectivity survey which captured the experiences of residents in the villages of her Redditch constituency.
Rachel will lobby ministers to ensure constituents benefit from the Government’s £5 billion commitment to support the roll-out of gigabit-capable broadband to rural areas.
Rachel Maclean said: “I want to thank everyone who responded to my survey. It was a useful way to find out about the varying experiences of my constituents when it comes to their broadband.
“The good news is that the Government continues to prioritise investment in gigabit-capable broadband through its £5 billion Project Gigabit – which Worcestershire will benefit from.
“It’s vital that families in my constituency will no longer have to battle over bandwidth and that we give people in rural areas the freedom to live and work more flexibly.”
As part of the second phase of Project Gigabit, 480,000 premises in Shropshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Worcestershire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are also set to benefit from upgrades to digital infrastructure.
The roll-out of Project Gigabit to Worcestershire will see residents benefit from broadband speeds of more than 1,000 megabits per second.
