REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has shared her sadness following the death of MP Sir David Amess.
Sir David, aged 69, MP for Southend West, died after being stabbed several times at a constituency surgery at a church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, earlier today (Friday, October 15).
A man has been arrested and police have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Paying tribute to the late MP, Mrs Maclean tweeted: "There are no words to express the shock of hearing of Sir David Amess' death.
"It is impossible to take it in.
"He will be greatly missed by everyone, he was pure goodness personified. An outstanding champion of Southend, and a true gentleman with a great, unique sense of humour."
