A NEW temporary Jobcentre has opened its doors in Redditch, giving jobseekers more access to opportunities.
As part of the government’s ‘plan for jobs’, the new facility based in the Kingfisher Centre will offer face-to-face support to a wide range of Universal Credit customers.
The Jobcentre has 30 work coaches, some of whom joined the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as part of the recruitment drive to hire 13,500 new work coaches across the country.
Mims Davies MP, Minister for Employment, said: “We know this has been a challenging time for many people and that’s why we’re boosting our DWP Jobcentre support in every community of the UK, including here in Redditch.
“Every customer benefits from having a dedicated work coach. They know the local jobs market and work with local businesses to match jobseekers to the latest opportunities."
The Jobcentre is one of the new temporary sites announced by the DWP earlier this year, building on the existing 639 Jobcentres across the UK.
Lisa Ridley, work coach at the Jobcentre said she is excited to be a part of the new opening.
“I love the fact that I am a work coach and being part of the new site opening,” said Lisa.
“Showing people what they can do to help them on their way and getting feedback that they got themselves a job or a step closer gives a massive sense of achievement!"
Victoria Burfitt, Redditch Kingfisher Jobcentre manager, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to open this second site in Redditch, enabling us to put the customers at the centre of all we do.
