REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean has met with the Justice Secretary following her calls for tougher road safety laws.
The Redditch MP met with Dominic Raab to discuss holding people to account for failing to remain at the scene of fatal and serious injury collisions.
She is calling for the Government to introduce several changes to current laws including a reduction in the reporting period; a new criminal offence of failing to remain at the scene of a fatal or serious injury collision; and a change in terminology with reference to collision or crash and not accident.
Rachel Maclean MP said: “I was pleased to hear at our meeting that the Ministry of Justice and Department for Transport are working closely together to tackle dangerous driving offences.
“I look forward to welcoming the call for evidence later this year and thank the Justice Secretary for his commitment to me to commission information relating to fatal collisions.”
