ALCESTER’S pancake race made a triumphant return the town for the first time in two years.
The race returned to the High Street on March 1, with hundreds of people taking part.
Marc Venables, low bailiff at Alcester Court Leet who organise the event, said it was great to be back.
He said: “It was clear the event had been sorely missed.
“The race was the last event the town held in 2020 and is the first one since we’ve opened up. It was good to get it going again.”
Around 194 children took part, alongside teams fielded from local workplaces and pubs.
Youngsters taking part received a certificate and an Easter egg donated by Simply Fresh.
The Alcester Inn were crowned winners of the pub relay while the team Cherry Trees Care Home took home the prize for the work relay and the women’s race was won by Harriet Styler.
