A NEW Lidl store in Redditch is near completion.
The budget supermarket chain has confirmed that the new branch on Battens Drive is on track to open this Summer.
Around 40 jobs are set to be created by the opening.
A Lidl spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be bringing a new store to Redditch and look forward to delivering our fresh, quality and affordable produce to residents.
“The new store is on track to open this Summer and will create around 40 jobs for the local area.
“We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we progress with the stores development.”
Developer, Woodbourne Group said work will continue on external land until around June 8 this year.
In a Facebook post, the group wrote that the development is progressing well.
The post reads: “The shell and core of the building are advancing well and the majority of the frame, façade and roof are all substantially complete.
“The development of the Lidl store is transforming the landscape and providing investment into the local economy, giving Redditch access to the convenience and good value associated with the Lidl brand.”
More than £2.5 million has been invested to redevelop the former Arrow Valley Health Club site.
