A COMMUNITY group is being forced to pay more than £800 after a nature trail in Redditch was vandalised.
Bomford Hill Nature Trail in Church Hill has been targeted by vandals who have uprooted several signposts along the trail.
The signposts are associated with a workbook which visitors can follow, tracking their trail and spotting nature along the way.
Church Hill Big Local created the trail and will need to spend £800 to replace and repair the damaged signposts.
Councillor Church Hill, Ann Isherwood, said the group do not deserve “the torment and abuse”.
She added: “This phenomenal group of people work tirelessly for the people of Church Hill and don’t deserve this kind of abuse and torment.
“Since being elected as a local councillor in 2019 by the people of Church Hill I have seen first-hand the amazing results of the work they do.
“They have beautified the area and supported other local voluntary organisations.”
Cllr Isherwood said the group have also installed play areas for children.
Police have increased patrols around the nature trail due to the incident of anti-social behaviour.
In a Facebook post, Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Police Team said: “Due to recent vandalism on the Nature Trail at Bomford Hill, our SNT have been out on patrol to deter this sort of behaviour.”
