A CARE home in Studley has launched a birthday card appeal for one of its residents who is turning 100 next week.
Ralph Heaven will be turning the grand age of 100 on July 12 and care staff at Haywood House want to make the day as special as possible.
Ralph, a former tap dancer, was one of the first residents welcomed into the home on Warwick Highway and since moving in has expressed his love for Italy and going on cruises.
On Ralph’s birthday, care staff will be holding a three-day virtual cruise along the Almfai Cost and dressing as ship staff.
The kitchen team will also be preparing a formal, black-tie birthday meal and cake for Ralph and his family.
A local dance school, Emma Charlotte’s Dance Academy, will visit the home to perform some tap dancing for Ralph, and children from Mappleborough Green Primary school will hold a ‘best birthday card’ competition where Ralph will choose his favourite cards.
Ilze Careless, Ideal Carehomes’ Regional Director for South Birmingham said: “Ralph is among some of the first residents we’ve welcomed into Haywood House, and we’ve really enjoyed getting to know everything about him.
“We’re so excited to celebrate this milestone birthday with Ralph, and with a bit of help from our friends and the local community, we can make Ralph’s 100th birthday one to remember.”
Any birthday cards can be sent to Haywood Lodge, Warwick Highway, Mappleborough Green, Studley, B80 7DG.
