REDDITCH Labour has announced its Armed Forces Champion.
Councillor for Abbey ward, Sid Khan, has been appointed to represent the armed forces community in Redditch.
He recently retired from the British Army after 26 years of service having worked directly with a variety of military units from Infantry, and Army Aviation to front-line combat.
Cllr Khan said: "I have always been an advocate for the Armed Forces Covenant and had the pleasure of being asked by the Royal British Legion to lead the Remembrance Parade last year in our hometown.
“I will do my best to support the work of the Royal British Legion as part of my role as Redditch Labour Armed Forces Champion.”
Labour Group leader Cllr Joe Baker said: “Redditch deserves an Armed Forces Champion that will take the role with the seriousness that it commands, and I know Sid will fulfil this role with dignity and dedication."
