TRAIN strikes are set to hit Worcestershire again tomorrow as the disagreement between rail workers and employers continues.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers announced its members intend to stage strike action on Wednesday, July 27.

As a result of the strike, a significantly reduced timetable will be in operation across the network on the day, and services on the morning of Thursday, July 28 will also be disrupted.

On both strike days, an extremely limited service will operate between 7am and 6.30pm. The last trains will also leave much earlier.

On non-strike days, no services will run before 7am.

The strikes are affecting all major rail companies across the Uk, including West Midlands Railway.

A route director for a major rail company in the UK called the protests "pointless" and said they would "cause misery" for passengers.

James Dean, Network Rail’s West Coast South route director, said: “With a fraction of the usual workforce available, including signallers who safely move trains around the network there will be a severely limited service during RMT strike action tomorrow.

"Many routes won’t be served at all, once again pointlessly causing misery for millions of rail passengers.

“I can only apologise for the impact another RMT strike will have on people’s lives, especially those travelling for holidays or attending events such as the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 semi-final in Milton Keynes (Wednesday 27th) and the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (Thursday 28th).

"It is frustrating to yet again ask our passengers to change their plans and only make essential journeys.”

As well as tomorrow's strike action, the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen announced its members intend to stage strike action impacting West Midlands Railway on Saturday 30 July 2022.

If this action goes ahead there will be no West Midlands Railway services on Saturday, July 30 at all, and services on the morning of Sunday, July 31 will also be disrupted.

There are also dates for August when strikes are planned.
