ENTERPRISING youngsters from Alcester Grammar School proved top of the form after competing in a prestigious engineering and manufacturing competition.
Alcester beat seven rivals at one of the biggest independent manufacturing-education events in the UK to land the award.
As a result, Alcester became the first ever winners of the communication prize at the Manufacturing Assembly Network’s Design and Make Challenge 2022.
The Alcester quartet of Alessia de Feo, Alex Cremin, Jack Coleman and Jack Rowley were set the task of using basic materials and tools to make a vehicle that could be propelled by falling weight.
They tested their devices, modified them and then raced the vehicles over a 7.5metre long track to see which one would compete the distance in the fastest time possible.
While their vehicle didn’t steal any headlines on the track, the Alcester team more than made up for that by the way they told their story of it through several popular social media platforms, which really impressed the judges.
