A ‘COMMITTED’ Redditch business owner is in the running for a top trade award hosted by Screwfix.
Jordan Elder, a carpenter and joiner, is one step closer to being crowned the champion of the trade after reaching the semi-finals of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2022.
The 22-year-old is the sole owner of JE Carpentry & Maintenance Services and is hoping to take on an apprentice in 2023.
He started his business in November 2020 and since then has been fully booked with jobs ranging from decking installations to complete house renovations.
“I’m really pleased to get through to the semi-finals of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2022, particularly knowing how many incredible tradespeople I would have been up against,” said Jordan.
“I hope to impress the judges with my skills, expertise, and my passion for the trade.”
Together with over 30 other top tradespeople from across the UK and Ireland, Jordan will battle it out to be shortlisted as a top 10 finalist.
The shortlisted candidates will participate in a one-day final event at Screwfix LIVE in Farnborough on September 23.
Jordan added: “To reach the national final in September would be a dream come true and I’d love the opportunity to champion the construction industry on behalf of my peers.
“In less than two years, I have built up a reputable brand in my hometown of Redditch.
“It would mean everything to me to win this fantastic award and the £20k prize would be a huge help in fulfilling the growth plans I have for my business.”
Jack Wallace, marketing director at Screwfix, said: “As a champion of the trade, we know that there are many exceptional tradespeople out there who are going the extra mile for their customers, producing work to an incredibly high standard and ultimately being fantastic role models for the next generation of tradespeople.”
