AS the nation mourns Queen Elizabeth II, we have taken a trip down memory lane to 1983 when Her Majesty visited Redditch.
On Tuesday, July 5 1983 huge crowds flocked to get a glimpse of The Queen as she officially opened the ‘Paolozzi Mosaics’ in Milward Square.
The mosaics were the brainchild of artist Eduardo Paolozzi, one of the founders of the Pop Art movement.
As the Queen unveiled the mosaics, a band of royal marines provided music.
People turned out in their droves to meet Her Majesty in the Kingfisher Centre before she went on to enjoy lunch in the Town Hall.
The Queen then headed on over for an official opening ceremony at Forge Mill Needle Museum, culminating her trip with a visit to local company Hymatic Engineering.
Advertiser readers have got in touch to share their memories of the Queen's visit.
Jordan Smith said she remembers the day and was in middle school at the time. The school was allowed to finish early to see the Queen.
Gill Reynolds said she was in the Kingfisher Centre and took some great images of the Queen.
Vicky Shorey shared some images of her sister Claire Hawkes and her mother Carole Abson who are pictured meeting the Queen.
Other residents have told of their short exchange with the Queen when giving her a bouquet of flowers.
