REDDITCH MP has apologised to her constituents and said "we must do better" following the resignation of Prime Minister Liz Truss.
In a statement MP Rachel Maclean said: “It’s clear the Prime Minister could not continue. She has made the right decision and I wish her and her family well.
“To my constituents I want to say sorry for the events of recent days and weeks. We can and we must do better".
The Redditch MP added: “We will now have a leadership contest and a new Prime Minister will be in place quickly ahead of a fiscal statement later this month to provide economic stability.
“I will be considering which candidate can best provide unity, stability and economic growth before I decide who to support.
“For the past five years I have been working hard to deliver more investment for the Alex, to get more police on our streets, to boost school funding, to improve social care, to secure the future of bus travel and to achieve our ambitious Net Zero ambitions.
“It remains the honour of my life to be your Member of Parliament and I will continue to deliver on the promises I have made to you.”
