RACHEL Maclean said ‘there is a lot of work to do’ as Rishi Sunak is named as the UK’s next Prime Minister.
It comes just months after his resignation as chancellor proved a fatal blow to Boris Johnson’s government.
Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch, has congratulated the new PM.
She said: “It’s time for unity and to govern in the interests of the people of Redditch. We must provide economic stability and effective government, and I know our new Prime Minister will be able to provide that.
“We must get on and continue to deliver on the 2019 manifesto on which I and my Conservative colleagues were all elected on.
“There’s a lot of work to do to restore trust in the Conservative Party and to show that we’re on your side and working hard to improve the lives of you and your family.
“I am laser focussed on delivering on the promises I made to you and I will work with our new Prime Minister and his government to do just that.”
