ISAAC’S Food Bank in Redditch has received a haul of food thanks to a generous donation from Tesco.

The vital food bank has received £250 worth of food from the Tesco Extra store on Coldfield Drive to help people in the run-up to Christmas.

The store first learned about the food bank when stock and admin manager Jason Harris noticed Isaac's parents on the shopfloor purchasing several items in bulk.

Jason said: “We have become very familiar with Isaac’s parents and have seen the incredible work the food bank does to support our community.

“The food bank is located close to our store and after having conversations with Isaac’s parents, Claire and Simon, the generosity of the whole family really hit home.

“After finally meeting Isaac in person, we can truly say what a fantastic little chap he is and how hard he is working to help others in his local area.

“We recently gave Isaac a gift card as a reward for his heroic efforts.”

The store said they look forward to Isaac and his parents joining them in launching Tesco’s Winter food collection this December.

Nathan Dowding, store manager of Redditch Extra, said: “Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank is a fantastic example of generosity and kindness.

“It’s amazing to see how the food bank has grown in just two years, and we hope the donation will continue to help Isaac and his family support those who need it the most as we approach these colder winter months. Keep up the great work.”

The store also recently donated a 42-inch TV unit to a foodbank raffle organised by Isaac, which collectively helped raise £3,000.

The funds are going towards expanding Isaac’s food bank into a second location and supporting the local community further this winter.
