A REDDITCH nightclub has been ordered to remain closed for three months after an incident involving a gun earlier this month.

Police say The Warwick Bar and Nightclub on Ipsley Street has been the subject of several complaints from nearby residents in the last twelve months.

And, on Saturday, December 3 officers were called to an incident involving a gun outside the club at around 5 am.

Clinton Bryan, aged 42 of Wishaw Close, Redditch was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following the incident.

In response, the local safer neighbourhood policing team and the licensing team gathered evidence for a full closure order application to be heard by the courts.

The order, which was granted at Redditch Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 12, states that the nightclub must remain closed for three months.

The order prohibits anyone entering the building besides the club’s owner, utility companies in an emergency and the emergency services.

Anyone who breaches the order could be arrested and fined, imprisoned or both.

Inspector Richard Field from the safer neighbourhood team, said: “We hope this result will provide some respite from the ongoing issues suffered by neighbours and improve their quality of life.

“The safer neighbourhood team will continue to regularly patrol the area, but in the interim we have asked neighbours to report any potential breaches of the order to us as soon as possible so we can take further action if required.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe and happy where they live, and no one should be subjected to the type of behaviour that was witnessed earlier this month.

“If you have information about anti-social behaviour in your area, please don’t hesitate to report it to us. We will take it seriously and we will do all we can to prevent it.”
