A NEW ‘boozy book club’ is coming to a popular Alcester cocktail bar.
The Lounge at 26 on Alcester High Street, renowned for its coffee during the day and its Espresso Martinis and Pina Coladas after dark, has been chosen as the venue for the Boozy Book Club.
The first book club event will take place on Thursday, March 30 and will be hosted by proprietors Liz French and Louise Hanks with the help of local marketing expert, Jessica Sweetingham from Talking Tortoise.
‘’The idea of a book club could be considered to be quite uninspiring, but when paired with delicious cocktails, good books and close friends, there is a recipe for a fantastic evening of fun and laughter,’’ said Ms Sweetingham.
Attendees will receive their first cocktail included within the ticket price of £12 and will also receive a free copy of local author John Crawshaw’s romance novel, The Swing.
John who lives in Alcester, was diagnosed with dyslexia and had never read a novel before he published his first novel in 2021.
The author now has a portfolio of books and is currently working on a sequel to The Swing.
Boozy Book Club members will be able to meet John at the event and get their copy of his novel signed during the evening.
The event will return to The Lounge each month with a different author in focus.
