PROPOSALS for a huge solar farm in Inkberrow, that could generate electricity for more than 18,000 homes have been submitted.
Plans for a solar farm and battery energy storage system (BESS) which could generate renewable energy have been submitted to Wychavon District Council following a consultation period.
The site for Roundhill Solar Farm is located to the south of Earls Common Road and is being brought forward by JBM Solar, a leading solar energy company.
Also included in the proposals is the provision of green infrastructure including picnic areas, paths, a visitor car park, a community orchard, an education trail and outdoor classrooms.

A total of 279 acres of grassland area including 5km of new hedgerow planting, 4 acres of new trees, a new watercourse and ponds, a wildflower meadow and beehives are also set to be created.
A spokesperson for JBM Solar said: “The Roundhill Solar Farm is a great opportunity to provide sustainable and renewable energy for years to come.
“Increasing the proportion of renewable energy is key in supporting Wychavon District Council’s net zero carbon goals.

“In addition to this, our proposed biodiversity net gain of 226.54 per cent will support Worcestershire County Council’s Green Infrastructure Strategy 2023-2028 by protecting and enhancing the site’s environmental quality.
“We are grateful to local residents for taking part in the community consultation events last year and have sought to take their input on board wherever possible.
“Following the increased uncertainty over energy prices, we are pleased to be bringing forwards these important proposals which can make a real difference in increasing the UK’s energy security.
“If approved this scheme could be generating clean and cheap renewable electricity to help keep the lights on and bills down from winter 2024 onwards.”
JBM Solar say due to the nature of the development the suite would be preserved as greenfield, before, during and after its decommissioned.
