Madam,
Well done to Extinction Rebellion for drawing attention to the shocking state of our waterways and they are right that the government should be taking stronger action.
However, we can all play an important part in combatting river pollution simply by ending our consumption of animal products.
That’s because a recent report by the Parliamentary Environmental Audit Committee came to the conclusion that slurry and run-off from livestock and poultry farms was the leading cause of the pollution of English rivers.
The adoption of a plant-based diet would not just help protect our rivers, it would also be better for our own health and that of the planet, and prevent the suffering and slaughter of countless animals.
