A SECOND 24 hour PureGym is set to open in Redditch town centre.
The former Bensons for Beds unit at Washford Mills retail park is set to be converted into an all hours gym after plans were passed by Redditch Borough Council’s planning committee.
It is set to create up to 15 jobs including management roles, personal trainers, gym instructors and cleaners, according to the company.
Although the gym will be open no group exercise classes are held at night so there will be ‘no loud music playing at these times’.

The site and the Wickes unit share car parking for 113 vehicles so no extra car parking spaces will need to be created say PureGym.

A planning document submitted to Redditch Borough Council states: “Gyms operate on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week, providing access to the whole community, including those who work irregular shift patterns such as key workers.
“Numbers of visitors to the gym at night will be low, gym members will normally arrive individually and are almost certain to do so during night-time hours.
“There are consequently not the issues that might potentially be associated with other leisure uses such as large groups of people, loud conversation or anti-social behaviour.”
The gym is set to include a range of cardiovascular equipment, resistance exercise machines, free weights, a functional zone, studios for exercise classes and changing rooms.
