ALCESTER’S new ‘Boozy Book Club’ has become a sell-out success with a huge waiting list.
The book club was scheduled to be hosted once a month at The Lounge at 26 on Alcester High Street with the first book club pencilled in for Thursday, March 30.
Tickets for the event sold out in less than seven hours and event organisers had to schedule an additional date for March 23.
The event hosted by book lover, Jessica Sweetingham from marketing company, Talking Tortoise, has been flooded with interest from new venues and other authors who wish to be featured.
During the inaugural book club, ticket holders received a free copy of local author John Crawshaw’s romance novel, The Swing.
John who lives in Alcester, was diagnosed with dyslexia and had never read a novel before he published his first novel in 2021.
Ms Sweetingham said: ‘’Our first book club was an incredible success, and the feedback was phenomenal. Everybody praised the venue as being perfect for the event, John gave an incredible insight into his life as an author and ticket holders praised the initiative as a real community asset for Alcester.
“We’re on a real high and can’t wait to do it all again next week and then welcome a new author to the event in April.”
