A MOTORCYLIST has died after a crash in Alvechurch.

Emergency services rushed to Lilley Green Road at around 8.10am this morning to reports of a crash involving a motorbike and a car.

When paramedics arrived, the motorcyclist, a man, was in critical condition.

Despite best efforts, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.

The road will remain closed while a police investigation is completed.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to a collision on the Lilley Green Road in Alvechurch this morning at around 8.10am.

"Sadly we can confirm a person has died in the collision.

"Officers are with the next of kin of the person who died.

"The road will remain close while the collision investigation team complete their investigation."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on Lilley Green Road in Alvechurch, Birmingham at 8.15am.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a BASICS doctor were all sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a motorbike and a car had been involved in a collision.

"The motorbike rider, a man, was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.

"Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, the man could not be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
