A WOMAN was forced to flee her home after a ‘severe house fire’ in Redditch.
At around 6.45pm on Thursday, June 15 emergency services rushed to Well Close after reports of a fire in a mid-terrace house.
Eight fire crews, an ambulance and the air ambulance critical car, all attended the incident which left a house significantly damaged.
A woman in her 40s and a firefighter were checked over by paramedics but were discharged on scene.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire Service said: “Six Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Bromsgrove and one each from Redditch, Droitwich, Pebworth and Worcester Fire Stations – plus the incident command unit from Droitwich and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue crews from Alcester and Bidford were called at 18:44 on 15 June to a house fire with persons reported at Well Close, Redditch.
“This was a severe house fire on the first floor of a mid-terrace house with the fire having spread to the common roof space of two neighbouring houses.
“Multiple crews in breathing apparatus used three hosereel jets and one main jet to extinguish the fire.
“The Urban Search and Rescue team also attended to shore up the house due to risk of collapse.
“One female casualty in her 40s and one firefighter received precautionary checks from the ambulance service.
“The incident was marked as pending closure at 01:34 but a reinspection then took place at 06:00.”
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We received a call from the fire service to an incident at a property on Well Close in Redditch at 7pm.
“An ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Strensham were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered all occupants of the house were safely out of the property.
“A woman and a fire colleague were both assessed by ambulance staff but neither required further treatment and so were discharged at the scene.”
