A STUDLEY pub has been forced to close for the ‘foreseeable future’ after ‘severe flooding’.
The Jubilee Inn, a well-loved pub on Bromsgrove Road, is closed until further notice after heavy rainfall battered Worcestershire and Warwickshire over the weekend.
While running a busy Father’s Day service on Sunday, June 18, the pub took the difficult decision to close as a roofing problem led to flooding in the premises.
At around 4.45pm on Sunday, The Jubilee Inn team posted on Facebook: “We have had to close due to severe flooding due to a roofing problem.
“We can only apologise to anyone that was with us at the time and thank you for your understanding.
“We apologise if today’s events have upset anyone.
“We have tried to contact all today’s remaining bookings to inform them.
“We do apologise again but this is beyond our control.”
In further disappointing news, later on in the evening, the team said they had no option to close for the foreseeable as the state of the pub was ‘getting worse and worse every minute’.
A Facebook post stated: “With the state of the pub getting worse and worse every minute. We have no option but to close for the foreseeable future.
“We hope this won’t be too long as this is not what we want at all. But we have to keep you and our staff safe.
“If you have a booking, we will be in touch to let you know what’s happening.
“But we have no time scales as of yet.
“We do appreciate it’s not good news. But we thank you for your understanding.”
Customers said they are ‘gutted’ to hear of the closure.
One social media user wrote: “Oh no, we have been coming a lot lately, hope all goes well and you get the problem sorted very soon.
“We will definitely be back when you open again.”
Whilst another user posted: “So sorry to hear this, you have all done an amazing job with refurbishing and have great staff supporting you, hope you can get the problem fixed and get back to serving your yummy meals and drinks that we all love.”
