A CARE home volunteer has scooped a prestigious award and is through to the national round of judging.
Malcolm Jackson, who volunteers at Cherry Trees Care Home in Alcester has been crowned Volunteer of the Year for the North Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2023.
The awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for residents living in Barchester’s 52 care homes and private hospitals across the country.
Malcolm said: “I’m the sort of person who always likes to be busy and when the first lockdown started, I was feeling very low with nothing to do.
“I offered to come to Cherry Trees and do some voluntary work looking after the gardens and it was exactly what I needed.
“I like to be useful and building and fixing things is what I’m good at.”
Malcolm will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October.
