FACILITIES at a Redditch school have improved thanks to a £65,000 grant generated from new housing developments in the area.
The expansion project at Webheath Academy Primary School is now complete with Year 4 children now having an outdoor classroom area, a library/reading area and a cloakroom space.
The funding was secured to address the increasing demand for education facilities which has resulted from new housing developments in the area.
Headteacher of the school, Janine Burton, "We are thrilled to have secured this significant funding, which will greatly benefit our children and enhance their learning opportunities.
“The expansion project has been a collaborative effort, and we are immensely grateful to the local authority, our partners, and everyone involved in making this vision a reality."
The money was generated from Section 106 funding, which is a condition imposed on some housing developments that mean developers need to contribute towards the cost of community and social infrastructure.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, cabinet member for education at Worcestershire County Council, said: “This project is a momentous achievement for the local community, and I’m looking forward to hearing about the positive impact the new facilities have had on staff and students.
“These new facilities undoubtedly enrich the educational experience of the students and provide an inspiring environment for their academic journey, enabling them to go on and reach their full potential.”
