A PLAN has been lodged to build a new 83-bedroom care home at the site of a former college in Redditch.
The proposal would also see Osprey House, previously used by Heart of Worcestershire College, converted into 33 supported living apartments.
Property developer MACC Group are seeking full planning permission to change the use of Osprey House and build on the land, off Albert Street, near the British Mills complex in the town centre.
The developer has said that the external appearance of Osprey House would largely be retained, with only minor aesthetic amendments proposed for the apartments.
The three-storey care home is proposed to the north of the site, which would feature 83 bedrooms alongside lounges and treatment rooms.
The care home would be connected to Osprey House by way of a three-storey link building, which would form the main entrance with reception and administration area, café/bistro, dining room, salon and manager's office at ground floor level, alongside lounges and bedrooms to the upper floors.
The site was acquired by Worcestershire College in July 2010, which used Osprey House as an education facility until teaching relocated to their Bromsgrove campus in May 2022. The site has remained vacant since the move.
The planning application, which has the reference 23/01108/FUL, is now available to view on Redditch Borough Council's planning website.
