A Redditch boy was invited onto national daytime TV after a scary masked thief broke into his foodbank.
12-year-old Isaac Winfield, the brainchild behind Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank, was asked to come down to the ITV studios in London with his mum to appear on This Morning on Friday, October 13.
The surprise news comes as the founder of the foodbank, which helps feed those struggling in Redditch, was left devastated after a man in a panda mask stole £50 worth of food from his foodbank shed.
Isaac’s mum and director of the foodbank, Claire Chapman, 43, said: “It was just an amazing opportunity and we’re so grateful that we got the chance to appear on This Morning.
“They invited us onto Friday’s show at about 10am last Thursday and then by 4pm we were on our way down to London.
“It was an absolute whirlwind and Isaac couldn’t believe it when I picked him up from school and told him the news.”
After the TV appearance, the foodbank has seen a boost in donations with the team at This Morning praising Isaac for his selflessness and donating £1,000 to the project.
The donation has since been matched by viewers supporting the organisation with Aldi also offering £500 worth of food vouchers to replace the stolen items and restock three of Isaac’s other foodbanks.
Ms Chapman said: “Isaac works incredibly hard and he’s so inspirational in the work that he does for the town so we’re all really happy for him that he’s had this experience.
“He was so shocked about the invite and getting to go behind the scenes at the studio was really surreal for him, but everyone was lovely especially Alison who was so good with Isaac.
“The reaction since has been incredible across social media and through all the donations. After what happened with the break-in, it really has been an emotional rollercoaster for everyone involved.”
Isaac added: “I was delighted to get the donations. The shed looks really well stocked now.”

The food bank is now on track to open its fifth shed by the end of the year thanks to the generosity of the community, including being the charity partner of the Kingfisher 10k run being held later this month.
Isaac is also due to appear at the Redditch Business Awards on Friday, October 27 after being nominated for ‘Charity of the Year’ and ‘Redditch Community Hero’.
Ms Chapman added: “It has been a crazy week with much more to come, so I just want to say a huge thank you to all our supporters and the 15 volunteers who have stepped up and worked so hard in making the foodbank a success.”
