A work experience coach and former mayor has won big at the Redditch Business Awards.
Job mentor at the Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW), Ann Isherwood, was awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Redditch Award’ at the ceremony held on Sunday, October 23.
The honour was in recognition of Ms Isherwood’s hard work and commitment to the people of the town during her time as a local councillor and former mayor of Redditch.
She has also been praised for her charitable work including her involvement in raising over £13,375 for Touchstones, who support children who need one-to-one support.
Ms Isherwood said: “It is heart-warming to be widely respected and admired by the people of Redditch for my dedication, passion and leadership.
“I am honoured to have made a lasting impact on the town and its residents through my involvement. I cannot wait to see how the youth of our town continue to make Redditch great in the future.”
During her time as mayor, Redditch saw significant progress in several areas including the support of events in the town centre improved public transport and commitment to tackling issues such as unemployment and social exclusion.
She attended over 350 official events and helped raise awareness for organisations including Age UK, the Redditch Royal British Legion and the Polish Community.
As work experience and job coach at HoW College, which has campuses across Redditch and Bromsgrove, Ms Isherwood also directly supports young people and local businesses in helping them find employment opportunities.
Ms Isherwood added: “I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who helped and supported me in making outstanding contributions to the town of Redditch.
“I am grateful for the selfless work of others and the support and love that they have shown.”
