The Prime Minister has asked the MP for Redditch to step down in the latest cabinet reshuffle.
MP Rachel Maclean expressed her shock and disappointment at the news that she has lost her role as Housing Minister today (Monday, November 13).
She said it had been an honour to hold the position and she was proud of her achievements in the role.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the MP said: “I’ve been asked to step down from my role as Housing Minister. I am disappointed and was looking forward to introducing the Renters Reform Bill to Committee tomorrow and later the Leasehold and Freehold Bill.
“It has been a privilege to hold the position and I wish my successor well.”
She added her thanks to everyone at the Department for Levelling Up and maintained her commitment to housing and planning.
The news comes after Rishi Sunak sacked Suella Bravermen as Home Secretary and appointed former Prime Minister David Cameron as Foreign Secretary.
