A teenager has been arrested after police found a large knife at Redditch train station.
Yesterday (Wednesday, November 15), West Mercia Police said Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team officers arrived at the station to find a boy running from one of the trains and leaving his rucksack behind.
He was quickly caught by officers who found a large hunting knife in the backpack.
The boy, aged 14, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife or bladed article and has since been bailed.
Inspector Rich Field said: “Every knife taken off the streets is another life potentially saved, which is why we’re encouraging people to make the right choices in whether they carry a knife.
“Often people carry this for protection and in many cases this can have the opposite effect.”
“My simple message is to drop the knife and tell us those people who are carrying a knife so we can stop them.”
