Time is running out for residents to have their say on ambitious plans for a new network of cycling and walking routes in Redditch.
Worcestershire County Council launched a four-week survey on October 27 with the outcome helping to inform the development of the town’s first Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
The LCWIP sets out a long-term proposal for delivering new or improved routes for walking and cycling in line with national guidelines, but the deadline to respond by Friday, November 24 is fast-approaching.
The plan particularly focuses on areas where there is a larger population and greater need to increase levels of walking and cycling.
Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, Mike Rouse, said: “We’re working on a new cycle network plan for Redditch and we’d really like to hear what people think about it.
“This new plan is important because it helps us secure funding from the Department for Transport. This funding isn’t just for cycling, but also for road repairs."
The feedback on the plans will help create the LCWIP document which is due to be drafted and submitted for further consultation during 2024.
Councillor Rouse added: “We want everyone in Redditch to tell us what they think about our new routes. We know Redditch already has some good cycle paths, but we aim to make them even better.
“We want to emphasise that this is just a draft. Nothing is final and your feedback truly matters to us and will shape the final plan.
"This is your opportunity to have a say and help us make the best decisions for Redditch. We’re listening and we want to work together to get this right.”
The consultation will run until Friday, November 24 at 5pm with the online survey being found at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/RedditchLCWIP
