THE show home on a new housing development has been officially opened by former Team GB athlete and Judo great Gemma Howell.
The View, off Brockhill Lane in Redditch, is now in its sixth phase and will provide up to 960 homes when it's complete.
The latest phase brings 109 new homes to the area. Along with the boost to local housing, the scheme will create new jobs as part of the construction and bring a range of community benefits.
The opening was marked by a visit from Team GB judoka, Gemma Howell, who recently announced her retirement.
Gemma reached the podium for GB Judo at the European Championships in Sofia and Tel Aviv, represented Team GB at two Olympic Games and picked up multiple medals on the IJF World Tour.
During her visit, Gemma led a Q&A session with visitors and carried out a healthy eating demonstration in the show home’s kitchen.
Amanda Rogers, sales director for Persimmon Homes South Midlands said: “This is a hugely exciting development that will deliver quality homes in Redditch and it was great to have Gemma along for the opening of our new show home.
“The View is providing a range of high-quality homes in Redditch, helping to address the need for new quality housing whilst at the same time making important contributions to local services and infrastructure.
“Persimmon Homes is proud to be an Official Partner of Team GB for Paris 2024".
Commenting on the opening of the show home, Gemma said: “It was great to meet the customers and Persimmon Homes team. This is a beautiful show home and I enjoyed preparing a healthy meal in the show home kitchen.
"I love all the surrounding green areas which would be great for a dog walk.”
