Redditch has been named as one of the top five places people are set to visit in 2024.
According to data from West Midlands Railway, the number of people searching for 'days out' and 'family days out' in the town has tripled year on year.
Sales and Partnership Manager at West Midlands Railway, Sophie Gardner, said: "After the buzz of Christmas, January tends to be a slower, quieter month with many people trying to recuperate both physically and financially.
"But according to our analysis of Google data, it looks as though families are looking to make January more exciting this year by planning fun days out together in towns and cities across the UK.
"With more people feeling the pinch, it makes sense that rather than spending large sums of money on holidays abroad, families are opting for more frequent but more affordable local days out instead."
The Google searches, from December 2022 to November 2023, pushed Redditch top of the list of searches at up 300 per cent year on year closely followed by Hereford and Telford up 100 per cent year on year.
Wolverhampton came fourth on the list at up 33 per cent year on year whilst Birmingham rounded off the top five at up 19 per cent year on year.
Ms Gardner added: "Days out can still be expensive, and the costs can add up. One quick way to save some cash is by researching the cheapest travel options.
"Taking the time to review various ticket types before you travel means you can maximise your money effectively and enjoy family days out, even on a budget. Making January that little bit more joyous.”
In reaction to the latest news, Redditch Borough Council also told visitors on social media to "come on down. There's loads of unique places to go and things to do and see."
