A woman from Stourport has been left heartbroken after her beloved pet jumped out of a tradesman's van 20 miles from home.

Claire Jones and her family, who moved into their new home in September last year, were having flooring work done in January when their cat Luna didn't return home.

Despite calling her and checking around the house, Luna, who is not wearing a collar but is microchipped, was nowhere to be found.

Ms Jones, who is head of sales at a software company, said: "Luna is really timid and doesn't normally go any further than our garden, so when she didn't come home on the evening, we started to worry about her.

"I was lying in bed and just had this thought that she could be in the workman's van. I just couldn't get the thought out of my head, so I contacted the man to ask him to check.

"He drove all the way to our house to open the door and check but nobody could see her and she didn't respond to our calls."

Unfortunately for the family, the workman was in Redditch on Wednesday, January 31, when he opened the door and Luna jumped out.

She ran over the gardens on Enfield Road and hasn't been seen since.

Ms Jones said: "He was absolutely gutted, but nobody could have predicted that she would jump out of a van 20 miles away from her home.

"When he told us, my husband got over to Redditch within an hour, but she wasn't anywhere to be seen. I've put up missing posters and I've made some contacts with those in the area, but she's completely vanished.

"She is such a nervous cat, I'm absolutely heartbroken to think she is hiding somewhere scared in a place she doesn't recognise. We just want her back."

The family have been going to Redditch most evenings and weekends to search for her and are now appealing for help from the community to reunite them with their beloved Luna.

Any sightings to help them concentrate efforts will be appreciated and there will be a reward for information leading to Luna's whereabouts.

Ms Jones added: "It's not knowing what has happened to her that is breaking my heart the most. We just want answers and have been left in limbo.

"The neighbours have been lovely and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been helping us find Luna.

"We are asking people near Enfield Road to keep checking their sheds, garages and gardens and just to keep an eye out for her. She is a huge part of our family and we all really miss her.

A missing poster with contact details has been posted on Redditch Lost and Found Pets with people being encouraged to reach out on Facebook with any possible sightings.
