There are less than two weeks left for parents to have their say on the new first school set to be built in Redditch.
As agreed in a cabinet meeting held in November last year, the first school and nursery will be built on a site off Foxlydiate Lane and is set to meet the increasing demand for school places after a rise in local housing developments.
It will initially open as a three-form entry with 90 places per year group in 2027 when it is forecast that 30 children in each school year group will live on the new development. This is predicted to increase to more than 60 by 2030.
The school will be open to reception-aged children and will grow over time as it will take a new cohort of reception children each September.
Cabinet member for education at Worcestershire County Council, Tracey Onslow, said: "Making sure children across the county have access to good quality education, which allows them to go on and reach their full potential, is a long-term priority for the County Council.
"Our team works hard to consistently analyse the need for school places across the county. We are looking to deliver a new first school in Redditch to help us meet the need for first school provision in the town."
The next stage of consultation is asking parents to share their thoughts on the council's proposal regarding the age range, size, values and the build principles of the school.
This round of the consultation is set to end on Sunday, February 25 with parents and carers being urged to have their say before the closing date.
Councillor Onslow added: "We've had a good response so far and we want to make sure as many parents as possible can have their say, so please do visit our dedicated website pages and fill out the form."
