Rubery's library members can benefit from longer opening hours.
Libraries Unlocked launches this week, extending Rubery Library opening hours for members to 8am - 8pm, Monday to Saturday, starting from Thursday, March 7.
The roll-out comes as Worcestershire County Council invests in new technology providing more flexibility for customers and community groups to use their local library at times more convenient to them.
In addition to borrowing and returning books, members can enjoy various services like free use of library computers and Wi-Fi, accessing dedicated study spaces, participating in community events, and hiring meeting rooms during extended hours.
Councillor Marcus Hart, cabinet member for communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: "I am thrilled that Libraries Unlocked will be launching at Rubery Library.
"Libraries are at the heart of our communities across Worcestershire, and I’m very pleased that we’re developing new approaches that work around our residents’ busy lives."
Libraries Unlocked membership is available for anyone aged 15 and over.
Youngsters under 15 can also benefit, provided they are accompanied by a Libraries Unlocked member during the extended hours.
Current library members who wish to upgrade their membership can arrange an induction by visiting any Worcestershire County library, speaking to a member of staff, or calling 01905 822722.
Feedback from existing Libraries Unlocked members has been overwhelmingly positive.
One existing user reported, it's a "brilliant idea and it's enabled us as a family to access the library more," and another hailed Libraries Unlocked as the "best thing Worcestershire Libraries have done since the introduction of self-service."
In light of Libraries Unlocked, staffing hours will be adjusted.
Members are urged to upgrade their membership, free of charge, to make use of the additional access hours from 8am to 8pm, Monday through Saturday.
Further information and updated opening hours to be found at the Worcestershire County Council website.
