Police have issued an update about firearms being used after a man fell from a roof in Redditch.
West Mercia Police said a "firearm had not been discharged" after residents started speculating online about hearing gunshots.
A man, aged in his 20s, fell from the roof of Threadneedle house on Alcester Street yesterday (Thursday, March 7) following a suspected altercation between a group of people.
The man was rushed to hospital on blue lights with serious injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Lougher said: “There is an increased police presence in Redditch as we carry out our enquiries and I know some people may be concerned.
“We do not believe there is any wider risk to the public however understand there has been speculation a firearm was discharged. We have established this has not been the case and a firearm has not been discharged.
“We would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation as we deal with the incident and carry out searches of the area.”
Following the news, residents took to social media to share their shock at the incident.
One social media user, Clare Bunegar, said: "How do people even get on the roof?"
Another resident, James Roylance, said: "Hopefully he will be okay but who knows because it was a big fall."
Tori James added: "That's so sad. I feel for the man."
Enquiries are still ongoing with police on the hunt for two men who were believed to be on the roof at the same time as the incident.
