A BUSY junction in Redditch is set for improvements to help reduce congestion and improve pedestrian access.
Works are set to start later this month on the Batchley Road/Hewell Road junction, which will see a new mini-roundabout and zebra crossing installed.
The new mini-roundabout will go next to the junction of Batchley Road, and the zebra crossing will be added along Batchley Road.
Works by Worcestershire County Council, are scheduled to start on Friday March 29 and are expected to take five weeks, bringing road closures.
Councillor Mike Rouse, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “We’re aware of issues at this junction, so it’s great to see that these improvements are getting underway soon.
“I’d like to thank councillor Salman Akbar and councillor Brandon Clayton for their hard work and dedication in helping to get these works to a position where we are ready to deliver them.
“We’re committed to ensuring that we reduce congestion where we can and ensure that we are also looking at ways we can make improvements for those walking, wheeling and cycling at the same time.”
The works will include the closures of Batchley Road between Hewell Road and Ashtree Road.
Hewell Road will have lane closures and operate under temporary traffic lights.
The existing bus stop at the junction will be relocated further along Batchley Road.
Access to frontages will be maintained at all times and any diversions will be clearly signed.
