The much-loved owner of Redditch's only remaining florist shop has retired after 30 years in the business.
Michael Morris has decided to hang up his secateurs for the final time and hand over ownership of The Nursery Shop Florist to a new generation.
The shop, which first opened its doors in Evesham Street in the town centre in 1965, has become a staple part of the community and gained a reputation for "quality and excellence".
Mr Morris said: "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my loyal customers over the years many of whom became friends and came into the shop on a regular basis.
"My loyal staff stepped up during peak periods, going above and beyond the call of duty when things got busy or when an urgent order came in or when the shop was full of customers looking for beautiful floral gifts."
Mr Morris started his career as a nurseryman in Bordesley as a teenager, studying horticulture and was sent to the Nursery Shop regularly to help out.
In 1993, he ended up buying the business from his boss, studied floristry and was awarded Interflora membership in the same year.
In 2001, the shop moved location to Evesham Road in Crabbs Cross and have continued to flourish.
The business has now been taken over by Ben Thomas who, alongside shop manager Chloe and their staff, have promised to look after Mr Morris' life work and ensure the florist shop continues to be a great success.
Mr Thomas, who is from Thomas Brothers funeral directors, was officially handed over the keys on April 6 in a gathering of more than 60 friends, family, customers and current and former employees.
Flowers from the Nursery Shop can be ordered online or by phone for collection or local delivery.
