A hockey club in Redditch have been left "amazed" after being nominated for three prestigious awards.
Redditch Hockey Club were shortlisted in three categories at the England Hockey Awards 2024 including Emerging Club of the Year, Men's Team of the Year and Diversity and Inclusion Champion.
The team will celebrate their success at a special ceremony on Saturday, May 18 in Leicester where the winners will be announced.
Chair of Redditch Hockey Club Becki Clarke said: "This is an amazing achievement for us to be recognised on a national scale, and we are all very much looking forward to the ceremony on May 18 in Leicester.
"Our club is a very special place and has lots to celebrate. We are engaging and creating positive hockey experiences for all within our local community from complete beginners to those who have long-term health conditions or returning from injury.
"We have continued to work with schools and teachers across the area and introduced a new Hockey Heroes programme. This has seen a positive growth in young players joining the club and giving hockey a go.
"This season our senior teams have also seen fantastic success on the pitch, squad numbers have been strong, and we have celebrated three of our Men's teams making history by winning their respective leagues and gaining promotion."
With just over 200 members, Redditch Hockey Club was nominated for Emerging Club of the Year due to its on-pitch success and its commitment to outreach work in the community.
Chair Becki Clarke has received the nomination for Diversity and Inclusion Champion due to her work in schools and support for charities and local hospitals.
One parent also commented on Ms Clarke's ability to go above and beyond to make sure children feel included regardless of their needs and has made the club a "safe, inclusive and diverse environment".
The men's first team was nominated for Team of the Year due to their "remarkable" on-field success including going from a fifth place finish to league victory and promotion.
The team also "exemplifies the value of an England Hockey member club" by contributing to the wider community.
Ms Clarke added: "We pride ourselves on being friendly, welcoming and social and consider ourselves one big 'Hockey Family'.
"We are looking forward to hosting more events over the summer, especially in the run up to the Olympics where we can open our doors and invite the local community to come and give hockey a try."
