Type 2 Diabetes is a common condition in the UK that has symptoms such as increased urination, fatigue, and excessive thirst, or may cause none at all.
Managing director of Rubicon Leisure, Ben Clawson-Chan, said: “Partnering with Redditch Borough Council for the Type 2 Diabetes Awareness event presents a great opportunity to promote health and happiness in our community."
Attendees will see enlightening presentations about living with the disease, prevention methods, and lifestyle changes that can potentially reverse the effects.
An NHS Health Bus will also be at the event for free health checks to gauge attendees' Type 2 Diabetes risk.
Free class passes the week of May 20-26 at Abbey Stadium will be handed out to promote an active lifestyle to manage the symptoms.
Hayley Gwilliam, sports development officer for the council, said: “It is important to raise awareness that Type 2 Diabetes can be prevented, and in some cases even reversed, through living healthier lives, moving more, and eating right."
