A twelfth person has been arrested after a firearm was discharged in Redditch earlier this year.

Police were called to Ombersley Close at around 1.15pm on Tuesday (March 26) after a firearm was discharged in the street.

Nobody was injured during the incident but a car was extensively damaged.

Yesterday morning (Thursday, May 23), a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders. He is now on bail.

Previously the following arrests were made:

Three men, aged 19, 21, 34, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

One man, aged 38, and one woman, aged 21, were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Three men, aged 21, 25, 26 and three women, aged 20, 26, 39, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Arrowsmith said: "Yesterday morning’s arrest highlights the extensive work we are doing to bring those responsible to justice. Our communities should not feel threatened by those who feel it is acceptable to pick up a weapon and use it amongst innocent people.

"You may feel the information you have is irrelevant, but however insignificant you think it may be, it could be the vital piece of information that will help with the investigation."

A £20,000 reward has been offered by Crimestoppers for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those linked to the incident.
