A shopping centre in Redditch has launched a campaign to fight for cleaner oceans.
As part of The Big Green Week, the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and Redditch BID have joined forces to encourage the community to recycle their single-use plastic bottles.
For the Waves for Change campaign, a giant whale bottle bank has been displayed in the shopping centre to act as a visual reminder of the damage being caused to our oceans.
Adrian Field, general manager at Kingfisher Redditch, said: "The big whale has gone down a treat with guests young and old and it has already swallowed a lot of recycled material.
"We are committed to recycling wherever and whenever we can and we hope that people in the shopping centre will do so in their droves as well."
The giant whale is made from 100 per cent recycled material and is located in Worcester Square.
Almost 17 tonnes of plastic was recycled by Kingfisher Redditch in 2023 and with the help of the eco whale, the goal is to exceed this for 2024.
The whale will be swimming around Redditch town centre until May 2025 so there is plenty of time to help make a difference and reduce the amount of single-use plastics.
