The number of approved exemption applications for XL Bullies in Redditch has been revealed.

Exemptions allow owners to keep the dog after the government ban was introduced making it illegal to own an XL Bully without one.

The ban on the breed was introduced on February 1, after a number of fatal attacks across the UK.

It has made it an offence to sell, abandon, give away, breed or have an XL Bully in public without a lead and muzzle.

The data, presented by postcode, has been revealed by The Spectator following a freedom of information request to the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

The statistics show that 50,000 registered XL Bully dogs live in England and Wales.
