THREE men have been arrested after police officers stopped a car and found a firearm.

There is an increased police presence in Redditch after the incident on Winslow Close this afternoon (June 20).

West Mercia Police has said that officers stopped a car on the road and discovered a firearm inside.

Officers arrested two men, aged 19 and 23, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs and possession of a firearm.

Another man, aged 39, has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst uninsured and disqualified and of being in possession of a firearm.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Arrowsmith said: “This is an isolated incident and we believe there is no wider risk to members of the public.

"You will see extra officers around this part of Redditch this evening.

"They will be in the area to carry out our investigation and to offer any reassurance to the community."
