Officers will be in Redditch this evening to offer reassurance to the public after someone was stabbed outside a pub.

West Mercia Police said officers would be in the car park of Southcrest Evangelical Church on Plymouth from 6pm to 8pm tonight (Friday, June 21) with residents invited to come and discuss any concerns with them.

The increased police presence follows someone being stabbed outside the Park Inn pub on Evesham Road on Friday, June 14.

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition.

Inspector Richard Field, of the Safer Neighbourhood Team in Redditch, said: "I know that this incident caused a lot of concern locally and, although we’ve reassured you through our messages on social media, nothing beats speaking to an officer face-to-face.

"That’s why we’ve arranged for officers to be at the church tonight, so that you can pop down and discuss any concerns with them.

"It will also be a good opportunity to discuss any information you may have that would help with our enquiries into what happened that evening".

Following the incident two men, aged 35 and 19 and one boy, aged 15, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

They remain on bail whilst the investigation continues.
